Red deadnettle is a common, low-growing plant in the mint family. It is often mistaken for a stinging nettle, but it is harmless and edible, know for its square stems, hairy leaves, and pinish-purple flowers the appear in early spring. It’s a widespread “weed” in gardens, lawns, and disturbed areas, valued for attracting pollinators and its traditional medicinal uses, such as for skin ailments and respiratory support.
